I have to give a shout out to the Nuber YMCA in East Memphis for finally putting a recycle bin next to the garbage can for used water bottles. I made the suggestion a couple of months ago, and it really feels good to see that they took my request seriously! I was so excited yesterday when I went to toss my water bottle in the garbage after I got off of the treadmill and saw the recycle bin! Thanks Nuber Y. You made this Cali girl in Memphis proud.

Amsterdam and Brussels
We had an amazing time on our quick vacation to Europe. We spent most of our time just walking. We only had two days in each city, so hoofing it was the best way for us to see every thing on our list. Amsterdam was crazy. On more then one occasion I was almost taken out by a bike, car and tram within 10 seconds of each other. In Amsterdam, pedestrians DO NOT have the right of way! If you go to Amsterdam be ready to get lost, even using a map the whole time, we found ourselves making circles!
On our second day in Amsterdam we went to the Van Gogh Museum. I really didn't know very much about him going in, but we felt like experts on the way out. He was definitely a head case, but obviously an amazing artist. I loved a lot of his work, but my favorites were: The Potato Eaters (1885) Wheatfield and Crows (1890) and Self Portrait. We've all seen Starry Night at every poster shop in American, but to see the details in his work and the amazingly small brush strokes he used was something else.
The beer in Brussels was so good. All of the beer is really strong, and each beer is served in its own glass. They even serve bottled beer in a glass.

In Brussels we followed our same walking plan. We had two walking tours in our guide book that brought us to some really cool sights. The architecture in Brussels in incredible. It is a mix of mideval, 18th, 19th, 20th and 21st century styles. I would definitely recommend this city for architecture lovers. Brussels had great street food, waffles, pom frites & chocolates (just to name a few.) We also went to a nice dinner at La Moule Sacree. I had the special of the day; shrimp coquettes, mussels and an amazing chocolate mouse for dessert. Shawn had the Flemish casserole, and that was wonderful as well.
St. Michaels & Shawn with Manneken Pis (the most famous little statue in Belgium)
The beer in Brussels was so good. All of the beer is really strong, and each beer is served in its own glass. They even serve bottled beer in a glass.
All in all, I would recommend both of the cities we went to. They were very different and gave us a nice taste of that part of Europe....Next up, France and Italy! Hopefully it won't take me 28 years to get back!

Happy Birthday Shawn
Today is Shawn's 30th Birthday. It's hard to believe that he was just about to turn 24 when we met and started dating. It has been amazing to celebrate six birthdays with Shawn! He is a smart, talented, funny and hard working. I'm so lucky to have him in my life! Thank you for being such a loving, supporting and caring husband!
Here's a weird side note; J.LO and Marc Anthony got married on the same day as Shawn and me in 2004, and today, on Shawn's 30th, J.LO gave birth to twins.

We're back
Hi All-
Shawn and I got back into Memphis yesterday after a 9.5 hour flight home. We had an amazing time in Amsterdam and Brussels. I'm so glad that we finally made the trip across the big pond. For now, I just have one picture from Amsterdam. I'll share more pictures and stories later! I love this picute, because you really get a great feel for Amsterdam. I also love the FEDEX truck in the back ground! You can leave Memphis behind but not FEDEX! As you can see, the weather was amazing, cold but sunny!

Super Tuesday Tornados
We are safe and have power in Midtown Memphis. Shawn and I also both have power at work. Our house is fine, but about 5 miles away from us in Hickory Hill the power is out and the mall over there is in bad shape. Fortunately the fatality rate in Memphis was really low (1 person.)
I rode out the storm in my bedroom closet, I figured that if the roof blew off I'd be able to cover myself with all of my clothes! Shawn was safe and sound at work. The Grizzlies played their home game as scheduled.
Here are a couple of pictures that my co-worker Michelle took yesterday from her house during the first storm. We got hit two times!
